Jenks East/West Intermediate Orchestra

  • The Jenks Beginning Orchestra program is split between the Jenks East Intermediate and Jenks West Intermediate, and comprises of over 150 6th grade students. No musical knowledge is required to join, and students with previous string playing experience are encouraged to participate!

  • Cellos and Basses are typically rented by students from the Jenks Orchestra Program for $35 a semester. A rental form must be signed and returned before a cello or bass can be assigned for “At-Home” use. A secondary “At-School” Cello or Bass will be provided for no extra fee.

    Violins and Violas will need to be obtained or rented by individual students and will travel to and from school each day. Not all online purchases are quality instruments! Please contact a director before buying online, or click here for our rental recommendations from local music stores.

  • Dress for all performances is concert black, unless stated otherwise. Attire must be solid black (no prints, graphics, or metallics), with at least ¾ length sleeves.

    Examples of proper concert dress include:

    ♪ Long sleeved dress shirt, full length dress trousers [no jeans]

    ♪ Long-sleeved blouse, full length dress pants or longer skirt (at least knee-length)

    ♪ Black leggings with long-sleeved tunic length top

    ♪ Black stockings or socks with black dress shoes--no tennis shoes or sneakers

    ***If assistance is needed to find proper attire, requests should be made to the director(s) no later than 2 weeks prior to the performance. Students who are not in required dress will not be allowed to perform.

  • Mrs. Laura Duncan directs the Jenks East Intermediate Orchestra and assists with the JWI Orchestra.

    Mr. Micah Neely directs the Jenks West Intermediate Orchestra and assists with the JEI orchestra.

    Mrs. Wheaton assists with the Jenks East Intermediate Orchestra. and Mr. Atkinson assists with the Jenks West Intermediate Orchestras.
